WMLIS Weekend Recap: Chicago, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City Secure Wins and Final Berths

Chicago, Illinois - March 2, 2026 - This weekend in Women’s Major League Indoor Soccer (WMLIS), the Chicago Mustangs, Phoenix Pulse, and Salt Lake City Utah Uprising all recorded victories. With these wins, each team has secured a spot in the WMLIS Finals, scheduled for March 28–29 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kalamazoo vs. Chicago – February 28
Chicago defeated Kalamazoo 10–5 on Saturday. Chicago built an early lead with three first-period goals, including two from Shannon Walter assisted by Carol Fernanda Soto
In the second period, Chicago extended its advantage with goals from Soto and Stephanie Nunez, while Kalamazoo responded with two goals from Jayelyn Vanvolkinburg and Nikki Page to make it 5–2 at halftime. Kalamazoo closed the gap to 5–4 in the third period, but Chicago regained control with a goal from Nunez. 
In the fourth period, Chicago added four more goals, including two from Kelly Collins, while Kalamazoo scored once through Maria Mauer. Chicago outshot Kalamazoo 36–12. 
Las Vegas vs. Phoenix - February 28
Phoenix defeated Las Vegas 7–4 at the Arizona Sports Complex on Saturday. Phoenix opened the scoring in the first period with goals from Cassie Hale and Adriana Orozco, and Orozco added two more in the second period to extend the lead to 4–0. Las Vegas responded with goals from Jazmin Martinez and Eyker Millan to reduce the deficit to 4–2 by halftime.
In the third period, Phoenix scored twice more through Emma Eddy and Hale, while Las Vegas added a goal from Stefany Aguirre, making it 6–3. Las Vegas scored once more in the fourth period through Baylie Saunders, but a penalty kick goal from Jessica Raybe secured the 7–4 victory for Phoenix.
Las Vegas vs. Salt Lake City - March 1
Salt Lake City defeated Las Vegas 13–1 on Sunday. Salt Lake City opened the scoring with three first-period goals from Dominique Estrada, Megan Hendricks, and Katrina Estrada. The team extended its lead in the second period with seven additional goals, including two from Hendricks and two from Estrada, while Las Vegas remained scoreless. Salt Lake City added three more goals in the fourth period from Kayla E Gonzalez, Mckenzie Evans-Tostado and Katrina Estrada, before Las Vegas recorded a lone goal from Saunders.
