THE WEEK THAT WAS: ZOO CITY DEFEATS PAO CHICAGO
Hammond Estates, Ill. – On Sunday, Zoo City FC (Kalamazoo, MI) traveled to Grand Sports Arena to face PAO Chicago in the home debut for PAO and the first road trip for Zoo City.
PAO Chicago came out strong, scoring the first two goals in the opening minute and thirty-eight seconds. After a high-scoring first half from both teams, Zoo City led 11-7 at halftime, a lead they would hold throughout the rest of the match.
The game was an action packed match, with a total of 26 goals scored, marking the second-highest goal tally of the WMLIS season so far.
In the second half, both teams scored 4 goals apiece. Zoo City’s Susana Roberts converted a penalty kick at the 52-second mark to secure the final score at 15-11 in favor of the visiting team.
Zoo City’s win brought them to a 1-1 record on the season, leaving them just half a game behind the Chicago Mustangs. PAO Chicago, despite a strong effort, fell to 0-3 on the season.
