THE WEEK THAT WAS: SUMMIT CITY UNITED DEFEATS PAO CHICAGO

PAO Chicago hosted Summit City United at Grand Sports Arena on Sunday night. After a highly competitive first quarter, Summit City held a one-goal lead. The road team would then break out with a 6-2 scoring advantage in the second quarter, and their five-goal halftime lead would hold up in the second half.
Summit City’s Leila Mojtahedi set the WMLIS single-game scoring record with six goals. With this historic performance, Mojtahedi also took the league lead in goals on the season with eleven, and set the league record for most goals scored in a two-match span with nine.
Alyssa Weiseman netted a hat trick of her own for Summit City. PAO Chicago tied their second-best scoring output of the season, with nine goals from seven different scorers, including two from Veronica Davila and Jordan Webb.
Summit City United (3-0) is now alone in first place in the WMLIS standings. They will take the field next at home on Saturday, March 8th, against the Chicago Mustangs. PAO Chicago (0-4) have a short turnaround for their next match- they will head to Kalamazoo on Saturday, March 1st, to meet Zoo City FC.
