Phoenix Dominates as WMLIS Weekend Brings Nine Matches Across Two Days
Chicago, Illinois - The Women's Major League Indoor Soccer (WMLIS) delivered a full slate of action this weekend, with nine matches played across Saturday and Sunday. Phoenix led the way with three victories, while Salt Lake City and Las Vegas each picked up two wins. New Jersey and Chicago rounded out the weekend with one win apiece.

SATURDAY'S MATCHES:
New Jersey vs. Las Vegas – Feb. 7
Las Vegas earned a 3–0 shutout over New Jersey, scoring once in each of the final three periods to pull away. Baylie Saunders opened the scoring midway through the second, followed by goals from Chelsey Nicol early in the third and Melinda Bravo's shorthanded finish in the fourth to seal the win.

Albuquerque vs. Las Vegas – Feb. 7
Las Vegas blanked Albuquerque 4–0, controlling the match from start to finish and outshooting them 32–14. Bravo led the way with a hat trick, scoring in the first, third (power play), and fourth periods, while Geraldi Gomez added a fourth goal.
Albuquerque vs. Phoenix - Feb. 7
Phoenix exploded offensively in a 13–4 win over Albuquerque, scoring 11 goals across the first two periods and outshooting Albuquerque 45–12. Justyse Smith led the attack with four goals, while Albuquerque got a hat trick from Deirdre Bia, including two in the fourth quarter, in the loss.
New Jersey vs. Phoenix - Feb. 7
Phoenix rolled to a 9–2 victory over New Jersey, building a 5–0 lead by halftime and maintaining control throughout. Jessica Raybe paced the offense with three goals, while New Jersey got on the board with goals from Melanie Cunha and Jacquelyn Gnassi in the third and fourth periods.
Chicago vs. Kalamazoo - Feb. 7
Chicago pulled away for a 7–3 win over Kalamazoo, outshooting the visitors 38–20 and scoring five times after the match was tied 2–2 in the second period. Kelly Collins led the way with a hat trick, while Chicago’s depth took over in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
SUNDAY'S MATCHES:
Phoenix vs. Las Vegas. - Feb. 8
Phoenix dominated from the opening whistle in a 10–0 shutout of Las Vegas, jumping out to an 8–0 lead by halftime and outshooting the visitors 30–11. Jessica Salanic led the offensive surge with five goals, while Phoenix added a shorthanded tally in the fourth to cap a wire-to-wire performance.
Albuquerque vs. Salt Lake City – Feb. 8
Salt Lake City dominated Albuquerque in a 16–2 blowout, racing to a 6–0 lead in the first period and never looking back. Dominique Estrada, Chelsey Campbell Sanchez and Samantha Diaz all had multiple goals, while Albuquerque’s only scores came from Madeline Alhamra and Bailey Green late in the game.
New Jersey vs. Salt Lake City – Feb. 8
Salt Lake City cruised to a 15–3 victory over New Jersey, building a commanding lead early and adding multiple goals in every period. Hannah Rose Lee Flores and Megan Hendricks each had multiple goals, while New Jersey managed scores from Melanie Cunha, Jackie Bruno and Ashley Batista in the loss.
New Jersey vs. Albuquerque – Feb. 8
New Jersey dominated Albuquerque in a 13–3 victory, scoring eight times in the first half and maintaining control throughout the game. Batista and Bruno led the offense with multiple goals each, while Albuquerque’s only scores came from Alhamra late and in the shootout.
